stacked in the darkness of obscured light you show your obligation tempered by the weight of heat tied in loops of steel and leather chain scoops silence holds it separate from the sun slicing it in pieces one side shadow one side flesh marred by the skill of chain -- Janie Hubbell

MELTING MELTING
by Sharon Cain

I stole those ruby red slippers
Fair and square.
Traded the wizard for a good time
Behind the curtain.

Dorothy, you naughty skirt.
Drop your harem and canine and gingham panties.
I'll show you why monkeys fly.

Forget the water this time.
Just bring ice.

You have something I want.
I'll take you home.

falsehood in motion
by John Eivaz

so she was reading -
what? -
a book of poems.
the tv guide.
a 2 for 1 sale circular.
the disconnect notice.

it was only
a bit of fidgeting
but suddenly her legs
went one way
and i went another.
maybe she was thinking
about a recipe
for some low-fat
enchiladas

but suddenly
i was thinking
of something else.
