body art to change the vibes
by PJ Nights
a divan in purple plush
where your La-Z-Boy stood
my glass next to the whiskey –
reggae smokes out
the residual slap of your wing-tips
pacing the floor

around my neck and hips
I string spiraled shells
to banish black echoes
of your fingertips
mother-of-pearl
vessels for an inward slide
along the singing
curve of the universe

I paint and pierce
in a reclamation
of my body
pristine ring in ancient
metals of the Tigris dangles
from the nipple
where your mouth
had so greedily staked its claim
this breast offered now

to the night
I sail the slipstream
of Minerva’s birds
