Somewhere between the light and the night
I closed my eyes and you were there -
Beside me, heavy drunk-tongued, holding me tight.
How natural it felt
To lie upon your deep-breathing chest
And awake
In a secret sacred sunfilled garden.
Your face in the flowers
My head in the clouds.
With a year behind me,
And a champagne stargaze
I dialed seven numbers
That shifted the fates into overdrive.
Your 5 a.m. voice, like ashen silk
Flowing across my past like the moon's dewdrop milk.
At "first" sight I felt an earthquake
The static in your movements
A grace so powerful, even in the winter's cold
Cutting my soul, burning my eyes with glitter gold.
Your strong hands reached for me
Melting my nervous silence
Into a rain so heavy
My blood ran vinegar thin
And I was in a trance.
A month has gone by
And hours have passed between us.
But, every minute is as intense as the first.
When your firework eyes look into mine
An icicle drips and you read me completely
You know me, without words
Infinitessimally searching
My shadows For light.
Swim in my love's shower
Surrender.
Drown in its red power
Don't fear it.
Hear the mysteries of my bleeding heart as it flowers
And believe.
Believe in love
Believe in life.
Believe in beauty
Believe in trust.
Believe.
In.
Us.
