LONGING

My heart's soliloquy
Nearly Never reached you
A love so sweet and sudden
Words frozen on my tongue

You are the poetry in the water
That I've been searching for
Your tide ebbed in one silver morning
And swept me off the shore

You are still a mystery
To have without holding
To dream of a kiss that never comes
And the absence of fear astounds me

Insomnia stirs awake
The midnight wanderings of my mind
Coiling 'round your body
Settling at your feet like tiny stars

You speak of dusty roads and moonlight rivers
Caress me with your hands
I melt slowly with each whisper
Until there is no separation
Between our tangled souls
