Staring Out of Windows

The street lamps sway
As cars race by.
The trees stand stoicly
Mocking me.
City trees have no life.
City trees have no poetry.
There is no water to reflect the beauty
Of singing trees.

The boys here are men
And they push my kisses away
Maybe they are just boys.
I'm staring out of windows
Instead of living life.
Watching the world swallow itself
In rivers of greed.
I've been called naive
That I know nothing of the world.
I admit that I'm a dreamer
I feel music in the world
It's better than getting eaten alive.
I can still feel the pulse of America.
I feel it through the window's glass
Smash
Crash
Pick up the pieces
let them fall
into the faceless sea
Of a neon sign.

Staring out of windows instead of living life.
