It started as a normal, beautiful day.
Only God knows how it could end that way
No one could have believed that September morn
Of how many families left shattered, torn

Elevators rising up with a jerk
Delivering people to each floor for work
A smile, a wave, a kiss good-bye
As death came screaming across the sky

America, land of pride
unwillingly got terror for a bride
Dust and debris filled the air
Leaving millions crying in anger, despair

A mad man from a third world nation
Caused so much pain, devastation
Coward he is, hiding underground
Praying to Allah that he won't be found

Death to America, he cries to his minions
Impressionable boys value his opinions
They are convinced as martyrs they're freed
Never realizing they're pawns in a dictators greed

This barbarous act that was so wrong
Forced our people to sing a different song
Never again, our President swore
As he prepared troops for another war

An assault on terror has begun
On a day when so many mothers lost a son
Now we'll lose more boys left and right
Because the price for peace is to put up a fight

The horrible loss of all we hold dear
Has left us trembling in rage and fear
Our Presidents solution to this tribulation?
Send our armies to desecrate another nation

Instead of going after the man who caused our pain
He started a fight with Saddam Hussein
Claiming weapons of mass destruction
Yet five years later, they've still found none

The Bush's and Bin-Laden's, two families with ties
They like their oil money so feed us lies
The lies we're fed fill our hearts with hate
Is this then to be our country's fate?

We all understand that some wars are right
That there are evils we have to fight
But the mad man who most needs to be caught
Is not the one our President sought

Instead he found a way to divert our attention
To quiet our nations growing dissention
He went after the man who hurt his dad
Thinking we'd praise him and be oh so glad

Our government rules us with sleight of hand
Are we ever going to take a stand?
And say no more living like sheep in flocks
Or just keep bringing our loved ones home in a box

An endless cycle, fighting for peace
History proves there is no release
So we watch our families and friends die
And shake our heads and ask "Why, God, Why?"
