Music is all around us

It is in our blood

It brings out emotion

In a torrential flood

Anger, Heartbreak, Sadness, Despair

Love, Kindness, and the memories we share

Music is our food

The fuel of our soul

It surrounds and soothes us

and at times makes us whole

To all the great ones

whom we have mourned when they died

We honor your craft that you shared with such pride

To the rest of our musicians

whether rookie or vet

we will keep the music alive

lest our children forget

As I write these words

I wait for the music to start

It flows along nicely

with the song in my heart.
