My Love
I've searched the world over for someone who's true
And someone who would stay throughout the tears
And then one day, I met you
And you helped me face all of my fears
I'd loved before, and I've only gotten burned
It seems I was always running to that shutting door
It took some time, but I just learned
Not to love or trust anymore
I built up a wall, and hid from the pain
But it didn't take long for you to find a loose stone
I knew then that I was tired of the rain
That comes from suffering with wounds all alone
You broke down that wall with one simple touch
You made making me fall look so easy to do
I never knew something so simple could mean so much
And I realize now that I'm no different than you
I know it isn't easy, and I know you have fears
But trusting me is the only way to find out
So let me be the one who'll wipe away all of your tears
And together we'll learn what this is really all about
You're are why I smile for no particular reason
You're the reason that my poems have rhyme
You're the warmth I feel no matter what season
You're my shelter, my friend, my one and only love
