“Smiles”
by: daniel fesperman
The smile of another can brighten the dullest days,
Whether it’s rain or sleet, even snow.
The warmth with which it is sent
Is the engine behind its subtle power.
When one is given another is soon returned,
Until you have a chain of smiles connecting the people.
A chain can last days and years.
Sometimes it can be broken, but it is not hard to mend.
The house of life is made with bricks of solemn faces,
And smiles are the windows that let light in.
