You walk with a bounce in your step, Only to dash, at the sound of a whip …Your eyes glance, behind your back… You start to gain speed, just like that You have gained enemies, In a year’s time …You think you just saw a thumb flip a dime… You feel the sweat…penetrating your skin Such fear is rising, from deep within …You hear a crash, a few yards away… You’re starting to wish, that it was still day… Your heart…beating rapidly, inside of your chest You’re running now…running your best …You hear footsteps gaining behind… The darkness has rendered you blind You keep running…but ahead is a dead end… You kneel down as your back starts to bend… You hide in the shadows, and close your eyes Someone steps in front of you…and you say…goodbye… By: Daniel Nourse
