Brandon Bruce Lee
Febuary 1, 1965 - March 31, 1993

Brandon Bruce Lee was born Febuary 1, 1965 in Oakland California. The son of master martial artist, Bruce Lee, and Linda Calldwell. Brandon had one sibling, his sister, Shanon. Brandon Lee following in his fathers footsteps, was an excellant actor and martial artist. He starred in films such as: Rapid Fire, and The Crow.

Brandon And Eliza

Brandon Lee was engaged to Eliza Hutton. The wedding date was set for April 17th 1993. Brandon never lived to see his own wedding. I will talk more about this fact in the next article which you can view below this one.

Brandon Lee R.I.P.
Because we do not know when we are going to die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well and yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood? An afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you cannot conceive of your life without it? Perhaps 4 .... 5 times more. Perhaps not even that. How many times will you watch the full moon rise ...... Perhaps twenty and yet it all seems limitless.
(from Brandon's grave)

Brandon Bruce Lee's death was a modern day tragedy. What I mean by this, is that it kind of reminds me of Romeo and Julliet. If you have ever seen The Crow, then you know what I mean. Brandon was supposed to be married April 17th, But he met his death on March 31st 1993. Brandon died at 1:04 pm in Hannover Regional Medical Centre, North Carolina. The night of Tuesday 30th March 1993, day 50 of The Crow shootings, started later than planned on stage 4 at the corolco lot. Reputedly the cast and crew had come to work having a mere 8 hours break from the previous day's exertions. Proceedings should have started to roll at 7:45pm, but it was 9:30 before the first of the night's nine short sequences were ready to shoot. The scene was a flashback, the one where Eric Draven is murdered and his fiance, Shelly raped and beaten. Brandon, who wasn't needed at first, was called on to the soundstage at a little past midnight dressed in his character's customary attire of black boots, black leather jacket, tight jeans and a t-shirt with the name of Draven's band across its front 'Hangman's Joke'. Draven would enter the flat as the thugs T-Bird and Funboy were in the process of assaulting Shelly. (Brandon had suggested to Alex Proyas that he don Walkman Headphones to give the scene some credibility-otherwise Draven would have heard his fiancee's screams.) Carrying a bag of groceries, Eric opened the door, only for Funboy to pull out a pistol and, in the confusion, shoot Eric. In reality this was a fairly simple scene to film in which an explosive device, known as a squib was hidden inside the grocery bag and then detonated to simulate the bullet from Funboy's gun hitting Eric. The actors ran through a rehearsal, then the crew were ready to shoot it properly. Unlike the rest of the crew, Brandon had enjoyed a good night's sleep, unknown to him, it was to be his last. The scene was played out with the cameras filming now, Brandon walking into the room surprising the thugs assaulting Shelly, Funboy pulls out the gun to Eric all crazy eyed, aiming the pistol and firing off a round. A deafening band echoed around the set as Brandon supposedly detonated the squib hidden in the grocery bag and then on cue, doubling over staggering and finally tumbling to the ground. It took a little time for the cast & crew to notice that Brandon was actually wounded, as you know Brandon was always playing practical jokes, but unfortunately this was no joke, Brandon had been shot, It was very hard for all the present people there at the time to really understand what was going on. All was clear when the wound was noticed, There was a hole in Brandon's right side of his abdomen an inch below his belly button. There was no blood though, Brandon was rushed into the ambulance, he was not concious since the accident, Brandon's heart had stopped in the ambulance, the doctors did bring him back and operated on him for hours, but there was so much blood loss, there was little improvement in Brandon's condition, The bullet which was not even supposed to be there, had lodged against Brandon's spine, had severed one major artery and caused damage to several major organs. The doctors tried their best to stabilize Brandon, but the 44 caliper bullet had done too much damage to save him. Brandon's death was a unavoidable tradgedy that should have not happened, if proper steps had been taken and more safety on set it would not have happened.

The Crow

The Crow was Brandon Lee's last feature film. In this movie Brandon portrayed "A young rock guitarist, who along with his fiancée, is brutally killed by a ruthless gang of criminals." I have decided to put up more pictures of this movie below, because it really made an impact on my life, because I loved Bruce and Brandon Lee, and the way that he had to leave this world was wrong and I even cry just thinking of it. Also, there will be some poems below that I found that made me cry. This movie was really great despite what happened to Brandon. Crow 4: Wicked Games is in Post-Production and has not yet decided a release date, and as for Crow 5, It is to begin production in 2005 and is rumoured to have a female lead. Brandon, we miss you, and we will never forget you! Thank you for all the great memories and the heartfelt moments that your humor gave to us!

Poetry:

The Day Brandon Lee Went Away

The day Brandon Lee went away is a
day I will never forget.
For something very special is now missing
from this world.
Have you ever noticed how Brandon's smile
lit up the screen?
Now his smile is forever taken from us,
and last only in our memories.
He had such a presence in this life
that when he walked in a room
you could feel his whole soul around you.
Even if you didn't know him,
he could touch your life with just one smile,
With just a few words,
With the wisdom in his eyes.
For you knew he meant everything he said.
If he taught us one thing
It is to live each day as if it was your last,
because tomorrow may never come.
I was sad when that day came on
March 31 1993,
For that was the day
Our beloved angel Brandon Lee went away.

Brandon Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a man there lived whom you may know
By the name of Brandon Lee;
And this man he lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and he was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea:
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Brandon Lee;
With a love that winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted him and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of the cloud, chilling
My beautiful Brandon Lee;

So that his high-born kinsman came
And bore him away from me,
To shut him up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying him and me,
Yes! That was the reason (as well as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud, by night
Chilling and killing my Brandon Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we,
Of many far wiser than we,
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Brandon Lee.

For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Brandon Lee;
And the stars never rise, but i feel the bright eyes
of the beautiful Brandon Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my groom and my life,
In the sepulchre by the sea
In his tomb by the sounding sea.

For Brandon & Eliza, ever joined in true loves beauty. *From the poem Annabel Lee by Edgar A. Poe & romantically altered for Brandon Lee By:- Silvia das Dores
