From the Stars of Cricket Signature Book (1996)

Birthplace / date: April 1, 1973, Christchurch

Association: Canterbury

Nickname: Flem

The best thing about being a cricketer is: Earning a living through something you enjoy

The worst thing about being a cricketer is: Not being able to settle in one place for a period of time - and having to work through Christmas and New Year

The most stimulating or triumphant moment I experienced on a cricket field was: Winning my first Test match for New Zealand (versus South Africa in 1994)

The moment I wished the ground would open up and swallow me was: When we were publicly exposed for smoking drugs

The best test I've ever seen, played in or watched on TV was: Australia versus West Indies when the West Indies won by one run

The best advice my mother ever gave me was: All the advice my mother gave me and gives me is great

My alltime favourite cricket ground is: Bomber Headquarters (Lancaster Park)

The biggest pest in the dressing room is: Chris Harris

The best dressing rooms in the world are at: Lord's

The best lunches in the world are at: Eden Park

If there's one side I really like to beat on the field it's: Australia

If there's one cricketer I really like to get the better of it's: Shane Warne / Wasim Akram

The best breakfast a fella like me can eat is: Fruit, cereal (Coco Pops) and perhaps eggs, boiled or poached

If there's one thing I really hate it's: Carrying my coffin around different grounds and different countries

The best place I've ever toured is: South Africa

The worst place I've ever toured is: All places are hard to tour because you're away for so long

The hardest thing about training is: Having to do it all the time

The best piece of clothing I've ever owned is: My blue Nike sweatshirt

Other sports I really enjoy are: Rugby, basketball, golf

I think a good motto for life would be: Just Did It!

My great ambition in life is to: Be the most successful batsman in New Zealand history!
