The Green Pajamas
Christine Crystalline
You could call her a diamond
Not because she’s precious because she’s hard
And she shines like an over-polished apple in an empty schoolyard
She’s one of the unnoticed ones
Overshadowed and outshined
She will never make the news
With cruel words or kind
Christine, Crystalline
Have you seen her, invisible girl?
Christine, Crystalline
Poor Christine
You could call her a buried treasure
Not because she sparkles because she hides
And she gives you a double padlock smile when you try to get inside
She doesn’t believe in pretending
She doesn’t say her prayers
She used to bother but that’s all over now
Christine, Crystalline
Have you seen her, invisible girl?
Christine, Crystalline
Poor Christine
She keeps herself gainfully occupied
Overbooked and undermined
So we don’t have to be sorry
We only need to be blind
Christine, Crystalline
Have you seen her, invisible girl?
Christine, Crystalline
Poor Christine
