The Green Pajamas
The Dreams Inside The Butterfly's Mind
Distant churches white but black against the clouds
Bells ringing out
So loud
Distant fields of silver flowers soaring past
Through colored glass
My pulse is fast
Debbie takes a drag upon a cigarette
And throws it at the sky
To fly
Like the dreams inside the butterfly's mind
All the pretty animals once roamed these plains
Before we came
Indians or trains
And before there were zebras there was God
And he made love
As there always was
Karl plays imaginary castanets
Never wonders why
He tries
Like the dreams inside the butterfly's mind
Distant drums along the river call the dead
The sky is red
You sleepy head
Jesse James once rode along this railroad track
Now he's back
In a paisley Cadillac
When he finally arrives
I want to stay here all the time
My valentine
Like the dreams inside the butterfly's mind
