The Green Pajamas
Hidden Lake
She said follow, I said I would
And I drove as far as I could
But there are things in the woods
Around Hidden Lake
She turned off Highway 4
I couldn’t see her anymore
They found her washed up on the shore
Of Hidden Lake
Thirteen miles down a crooked road
There’s a place where day don’t break
And the thick green water is dark and cold
In Hidden Lake
Mr. Hoskins tried to smoke
The evil from the trees
But he learned the trees don’t burn
They’re too diseased
Seven have died in as many years
And there’s probably seven more
Heaven knows there’s a lot of ghosts
Walk the lake floor
Thirteen miles down a crooked road
There’s a place where day don’t break
And the thick green water is dark and cold
In Hidden Lake
And the rain pours down from a sky so gray
I don’t know if I’m waking up to night or day
But it doesn’t matter anyway
She’s gone...
She's gone...
She's gone
At night I dream of Katie
And her big green eyes
There’s a little marker about a quarter mile
As the crow flies
I don’t know why she turned down that road
Maybe something called
The lake has a hunger that’ll pull you under
Maybe that’s all
Thirteen miles down a crooked road
There’s a place where day don’t break
And the thick green water is dark and cold
In Hidden Lake
