The Green Pajamas
Wedding Day
Molly sat on the sand bar
The fat man drawing the punch
As the rag doll and broom handle's wedding procession
Was stopping in for lunch
Heron reporters were camped in their quarters
Waiting for porters you knew
When over the ground came the haunted sound
Of the burning and the blue
And I started to wonder
Oh wonder oh wonder
Oh whatever happened to you
Oh whatever happened to my love
In your lipstick and ribbons
And low heels and mittens
With look-alike kittens
On leashes of golden thread
I miss your feet and your legs and your arms
And your body and your head
And your hands and your eyes
And your lips and your thighs
And all of the crowns that you wed
Is that you out on the water
That read me those stories in bed
Is that you my watching waiting dove
Oh whatever happened to my love
Molly looked up at the fat man
And the fat man started to cry
As the clean ears and sleepy heads
Went on their way goodbye
As the rag doll and broom handle
Both lit a blue candle
The hourglass ran out of sand
If I could just be in your army
I wouldn't care if I had command
If I could just be in your army
I wouldn't care if I had command
