When you should praise the Lord, but just don't take the time,
And suffer the consequences because of your Social Climb,
"You're trying too hard" you've heard your pastor preach
As attaining your ambitious goal came within your reach.
He also said "Give God praise for successes along the way
Take some time for worship every single day"
But your time is spent on things in the physical realm,
Your drive for success doesn't include God at the Helm.
Now, you still love God, your're saved without a doubt
But He isn't involved in the things you're concerned about.
Has ambition controlled your life, and in this particular phase
You don't feel achievement is worthy of giving praise?
It's time to pay attention to what's recorded in God's word
And see that he is attentive to even the smallest bird.
You have to realize while continuing the daily Grind
That success isn't necessarily a product of the mind.
The measured steps you take towards a given goal
won't help you much when those steps involve your soul
Accomplishments won't matter, even in your best days
If YOU take all the credit and don't give God the praise.
Because if you take all the accolades and adopt a superior air,
You'll end up feeling hopeless, life will be empty and bare.
These emotions will cause you to enter an unproductive stage
When neither success will help you nor the wisdom of a sage.
If you return to giving God worship and honor him from your heart
Keep praise upon your mind and lips, and defeat will soon depart.
Give honor and praise to Jesus for the blood he shed for you,
And for sending the Holy Spirit to guide and help you too.
As you continue praising the Lord, obstacles may still remain,
But you'll have all the joy and peace a mortal can contain.
If your objectives hit a snag, just don't forget to pray,
Keep on praising Jesus, and HE will make a way.
