My mother's prayers have followed me
Wherever I have gone
And I can see her dear bent head
Where she kneels, praying for her son.
"Dear God", her voice lifts to pray
"Direct my boy, and keep him from harms way.
Please guide and protect him, dear God,
And bring him back whole, one day".
I can see her with her Bible
with pages old and worn
As she reads and utters a little prayer
For the son that she had borne.
I can see her as she lifts
her heart to God in prayer,
And says: "I give him to you, Lord,
And leave him in your care".
God, please help my dear Mother
And bless her kind heart
And bring me back as whole and clean
As I was when we had to part.
