THE NOBLE AND THE UNJUST

When Jesus walked the streets of far off Galilee,
He knew he would one day die, for you and me.
His life was pure perfection, for the Lord of all the earth
Was divine by nature, and of sinless, royal Birth.

Because He was the son of almighty God above,
He was truthful about God's word, yet harmless as a dove.
Pharisees became his enemies as well as the Sadducees
He convicted and condemned with the Law, men of high degrees.

Because of their pride they sought to destroy the giver of life
And change his words of peace and love to enmity and strife.
They conveyed their hatred and evil to the king of all that land
Persuading him to destroy this man they didn't understand.

Nailing Him to a cross bearing your sins and mine
Freeing us from the Law's curse by God's own Design.
Giving us freedom from all the guilt and shame
That is obliterated when we call upon his holy name.

And all the influence wielded by the Pharisees,
And of all the High priests with their ruling decrees
With all of the abusive curses they could toss
They didn't have one that could counteract the cross.

Nor did they have one that would contradict its' role
In securing freedom from damnation for your Soul
For though you didn't have one redeeming fact
That could make you worthy of Christ's selfless act,

He willingly went to that cruel cross alone,
For His death there would completely atone
For all of the sins of the Entire world
When his very last word towards heaven was hurled:

FINISHED, and its impact lives on perpetually,
The basis upon which you and I were made free
And the only way you can be sure of your part
Is to call upon Jesus and give him your heart
