Once in a lifetime you get the chance,
As your breath is coming in very short pants,
Because reality has become so very strong,
Correcting the things that you've done wrong.
You get to make the crooked places straight
Before you reach Eternity's gate.
Broken relationships can be mended
Before your sinful life is ended.
As the hateful feuds are patched,
And love is once again attached
To the people you once held so dear
And clouds of doubt are made clear.
You find a whole new way of living
Because you learned to be forgiving,
And when Jesus occupies the heart
That's when the life gets a new start.
All malice has passed away
When you look toward heaven and say:
"Lord Jesus, I confess all my sin,
Forgive me and let a new life begin."
That once in a lifetime event is here
Jesus is now saying: "Be of good cheer,
Your sins are forgiven and washed away,
And you are my child, right now, today."
