Claustrophobia

After reading the words of a very special friend
Who wrote a theme I could comprehend
That covers sensations everyone feels
When Satan uses guile and subtly steals

Every shred of confidence in your mind
That claustrophobic thoughts of any kind
Would not be able to cause distress
When in an Elevator you felt the press

Of many bodies in a very small space
And unbreathable air blown in your face,
A similar feeling comes when belted in the seat
Of an Aircraft at thirty thousand feet.

Panic keeps making the stomach recoil
While keeping its contents is extreme toil.
Everyone else seems so calm and serene
While your skin crawls and your face turns green.

That feeling, my friend, is just plain fear
You're hurting and that's perfectly clear,
But you fail to take into consideration
That a much greater consternation

Without doubt, would quickly appear
If you lost that one that you hold dear.
Reality will turn your heart to stone
That you must go on through life alone,

But nothing in this life could ever compare
With the emptiness and total despair
If your relationship with God came to an end
And He was no longer your closest friend.

So if an elevator's panic attack
Or an aircraft causes nerves to crack,
Remember that anywhere, far and wide,
God is right there, by your side.
