As you go through life's bumpy road of pitfalls and holes,
You notice that a lot of people are just playing roles,
Pretending to be something that they really are not,
Reaching for the level of fame their parents got,
Lacking genuine ability and talent it takes,
Acquiring accolades, they know they are fakes.
Going on in ignorance, without struggle they attain
An elegant lifestyle on someone else's gain.
Some people in churches today are just the same,
Appearing to be Godly but by someone else's name,
Raised from infancy in a prestigious home,
Because they acted like Christians and didn't roam.
They go to church on Sunday and in following days,
Conduct themselves like Christians in all their ways.
Regularly quoting scripture when you hear them talk,
And seeming to be Holy, in their daily walk.
They may be just rehearsing, like playing a part,
And not reflecting what's really in their heart,
Assuming a posture when they come through the door
They can't even tell you what they came there for.
They need to know that Jesus is the one they must please,
And meet him at the Altar, down on their knees.
Giving him a heart that had grown stiff and cold,
Making their life a thing of beauty to behold.
The tears of joy that break forth like a flood
Are evidence a soul has been cleansed by the blood.
The sparkling smile that comes shining through
is proof that Jesus has made their life new
