Shadows

Whoever stands or walks in the sun casts a shadow on the ground,
Wherever there is light, there are always shadows around
You'll always see your shadow when you are standing in the light
And usually even visible in the darkness of the night.

The brighter the light, the sharper the shadow seems to be
The image is then more definite, and so much easier to see.
And is clearly profiled in silhouette by light beams in the dark,
Its identity clearly distinguished by contrast so stark

That the very old and very young are often deceived in fear
That something wild and dangerous is lurking very near.
And when it becomes illuminated and bathed in rays of light,
Dangers are unfounded, and uneasy fears take flight.

The reverse is true in the presence of Jesus, Lord of Lords,
For He outshines the radiance that the brightest light affords,
For Shadows do not exist where the victorious Savior abides,
And his children remain untouched by the perils on all sides.

For whenever daylight wanes and darkness begins to appear
Unfamiliar shadows can cause trembling and fear.
Shadows with names like unhappiness, lust and greed,
Hate, pride and many others you simply do not need.

Worry and doubt are the fuel upon which many shadows grow,
If you would be free from them all, you only need to know,
They will dissipate like vapor and vanish into thin air,
Along with the shadows of irritation, concern and care.

When you're walking with Jesus every shadow disappears
Along with all your cares, worries and fears
And all you need to do is speak His name and pray
For Jesus is the light that clears every shadow away
