One day when Jesus' Disciples were on the Sea of Galilee,
After He'd told them to cross to the opposite shore,
The storm clouds began to gather, And the wind blew mightily,
And as the waves were crashing and the tempest began to roar,
When Jesus had told them to go ahead and take the available boat,
There was only a very mild zephyr, the sea so calm and serene,
A few were the most able seamen that had ever been afloat,
And, to them, all this peril was totally unforeseen.
As the gale increased in force, their hearts were filling with dread,
They couldn't hear threir own voices, so loud the wild storm grew,
All Hope was gone now, they knew they would soon be dead,
Water was filling the boat, there was nothing more they could do.
Suddenly they sighted a figure, approaching on top of the sea,
They Screamed "An apparition, some kind of Spirit or ghost"
Walking upon the water and saying, "Don't be afraid, it's me"
Their hearts were then lifted, It was the one who loved them most.
Peter said:"Lord, if it's you, Say the word to come to you
Walking upon the Sea. And Jesus spoke but one word: "Come".
Peter stepped out on the water, as Jesus had told him to do,
But when he saw wind boisterous, He froze in fear and became numb.
He began to sink in the water, "Save me, Lord" He said"
Jesus caught Him then and quickly lifted Him out,
And as Peter then, to the boat was safely led,
Said Jesus: "Oh faithless one, why did you doubt?"
And as they stepped into the boat, the mountainous waves grew still,
The terrible gale subsided and became a light zephyr again.
The rescued seamen rejoiced, their hearts began to fill
Graceful that the Master of the sea cared for despairing men
Now, Jesus knows your dilemma, and the mountain that you face,
But if you give Him all your fear and the storm you're going through,
All of the strain and stress, the Master will simply erase,
And give you peace and freedom, because of his love for you.
