Not My Will But Thine

When it's time to retire and you fall upon your knees,
Lifting your voice in supplication and pleas,
Asking God to open or close a fateful door,
And you recall that you have asked for this before.

It may be for an illness, a decision you must make,
Or a change in the direction of a path you must take.
Though you may be careful, in life's journey, each day,
To read your Bible and taking time to pray,

You gave your heart to Jesus and follow His commands,
But that's not the stepping stone to alter life's demands.
No matter conditions await Body and Soul,
It is still God who is firmly in Control.

Remember Jesus, with the Ultimate price to pay
On a Cross, with God;s presence taken away.
Saying: "My God, Why has thou forsaken me?"
Purchasing Freedom for you and me.

He first went to and fell to the ground there,
Pouring out his Grief, but without despair,
He told God what was to become a famous line"
"Nevertheless, Father, not my will but thine"

It was hard for Jesus to take my place,
Unable to Hear God, or to see His face
Knowing He had to suffer all loss,
And leaving our sins at the cruel Cross,

So if you follow Jesus and quote the famous line
Saying: "Heavenly Father, not my will but thine"
You may not have results just the way you pray,
Mean it and you'll have Victory in every way.
