Words

Wounded for our transgressions in Isaiah Fifty-three
Jesus suffered for sinners, just like you and me
Carrying his own cross, he fell on Calvary's hill,
But they had no patience with the man they meant to kill.

And continued to abuse him with scourges and whips
yet not one sound got past his wounded lips
They hung Him on that cross where they meant for him to die,
But He only looked up, and asked His Father why.

He was forsaken, then looked up and said
"It is finished" and in a moment was dead.
Followers took him down and laid him in a tomb
And all unbelievers had sealed their final doom.

But on the third day Jesus arose from the dead
Giving meaning and life to everything He said.
And we, in human weakness, could not have borne the shame,
For only Jesus blood could take away the blame

For every wrong word and sin that we commit
The precious' blood of Jesus has already paid for it
If when arguing with a loved one, you say a cutting word,
Just remember, whatever you say, Jesus also heard.

Harsh words, spoken in anger. to a loved on, now and then
Are causing Jesus to bear his cross again
Hurtful words, curses or just giving a whack
These are the lashes upon Jesus' back

No matter what you do whether in anger or a whim
Jesus said what you do, you do it unto Him
Whatever you do, let your words and deeds be sweet,
Follow Jesus and your life will be complete
