can’t quite
I’m beginning to wonder ,
Why you are who you are.
You can’t quite see your future,
No you can’t quite see that far.
The answer to your question,
Is not too far to be found.
But ain’t that a bitch,
When you can’t quite see the ground.
You’re ten miles high,
And the world is passing you by.
You can’t quite stop,
Or even drop.
The habit that’s been eating you,
Since the summer of ninety-two.
You say you can’t quite satiate,
Your appetite for seeing fate.
Pass right before your eyes,
And laugh as you kiss the sky.
But maybe you’ll find,
In the course of this rhyme.
That you can’t go on living,
Without even giving.
My way a try,
Cause only you can end this lie.
You’re jonesing for another day,
To help you maybe break away.
From the things that we’re made of,
The things you’re afraid of.
You hit the bottle to drown away,
The fear of living another day.
You brag about it constantly,
But why you do, I can’t quite see.
You think you’re cool, that you’re the man,
And that everyone’s your biggest fan.
I’m here to tell you truth’s a bear,
And, oh yeah, also life ain’t fair.
But if you find the path today,
You’ll see your fears just slip away.
Oh, The truth you’ll find,
When you clear your mind.
You’re running from that great big wall,
but it’s catching up fast, and soon you’ll fall.
One last thing before I go,
You’re big, you’re tough, but we all know
Your whole charade it’s over now,
Cause all your "courage" has run out.
When you’re done,
And you’ve had your fun.
And maybe then what you can’t quite see,
Will appear to you in a dream of me.
I’ll tell you to get a life,
And end all this unneeded strife.
The answers of why you can’t cope,
Aren’t found in a bag of dope,
But it is here to be found
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll see it,
When you hit the ground.
