protest

The world in which we live is jaded to what they say

Conspiracy brews, and yet you choose, to move your merry way

When can we consciously say that what they’re doing isn’t right

When can we walk the streets, and feel safe for that which we fight

I ask you not for radical change, cause that never got us far

I ask you not for the clothes on your back, you need them more than me

I ask you only to hear what I say, you are not what they say you are

I ask only that you’re here to stay, cause I alone can’t make them see

The world in which we live, is not the same as theirs

They think we don’t know, that we can’t see, that we don’t even care

When can you look at yourself and truly say what you are

And all you see is the mirror image of your life thus far

I ask you not for radical change, cause that never got us far

I ask you not for the blood in your heart, you need that more than me

I ask you only to hear what I say, you are not what they say you are

I ask only that you’re here to stay, cause I alone can’t make them see

The world in which we live is stagnant and lifeless and poor

It’s not the Utopian dream that we should be fighting for

Mediocrity too is not the answer, nor that which we possess right now

This road set before us is long, no doubt, but triumph must be gained somehow

I ask you not for radical change, cause that never got us far

I ask you not for your souls, your shoes, you need them more than me

I ask you only to hear what I say, you are not what they say you are

I ask only that you’re here to stay, cause I alone can’t make them see

I refuse to sit here idly by, while our lives are slowly destroyed

And I refuse to watch you whittle away the life that fills our void

Look at the man who begs for his life, are you worse than he

If you answered yes to this, I fear that you just might be

I ask you not for radical change, cause that never got us far

I ask you not for the life you lead, you need that more than me

I ask you only to hear what I say, you are not what they say you are

I ask only that you’re here to stay, cause I alone can’t make them see
