Personal Values
Living in the zone and having a nagging feeling
To share, inspire and encourage others
A bad hair day can't take anything away
From the intrinsic feelings of knowing
That you have achieved what's right, true and good
Some of the memories may be bad, but we must let go of the past
For any real healing to take place, we must savour the present
And anticipate the future with all its possibilities
Reflect on the past victories and failures and learn from them all
Feeling good about life in general, about one's self, one's community
And one's nation is the optimum feeling of grace and harmony

Chicken Soup Healing Power
(What’s In A Name?)
Special Dedications:
Chicken Soup For The Souls of: (Names can go here)
.........

As brave and as chickens may be
They have been given a bad rap for a long time
They have been the butt of jokes and ridicule
Just for being what they are
By any other color, feather, and breed
They are only chickens!
It’s time to give chickens their dues

While we recognize this change of attitude may not come any time soon,
Chickens’ contributions to humans will continue uninterrupted
How many teams carry a poultry’s or a bird’s name?
We have Baltimore Orioles, Oregon Ducks, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens
Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons
Not a single chicken name yet!
Universities and football teams are proud institutions
That seem interested in taking names of strong, ferocious and wild animals
That instill fear and evoke the crunching actions of their defensive lines
We have Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions,
Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, St Louis Rams, Indianapolis Colt etc.
The names suggest the agility, swiftness and physical prowess of team members
They symbolize a strong drive to success, lots of adrenaline, pure fighting machines

“Get out of my face, chicken,’ ‘get out of here, chicken,’ or
just ‘chicken!’”
You may have heard or you may say to the guy who refuses to fight back despite calls to action
You may even say any of these to the woman whom you perceive to have no spine on her back
Expressions such as “you are a chicken” can take many forms for sensationalistic purposes
They imply the weakness of the addressee
There is a perception of lack of strength when it comes to naming a team “chicken.”
Yet, there is maximum strength in chicken soup prepared by grandma or with her recipe
We tend to assume a chicken has no backbone

I am here to proclaim that there are brave chickens, brave chicks
Who accomplish heroic acts out in the fields every day
Consider the plight of a chicken farmer
Whose chicken coops have been raided, besieged
By vermin and hawks!
Motivated by hunger and the immediate needs to feed its own chicks,
The hawk flies down from its nest perched on this tree limb
To grab, snatch any chicks
The mother hen exposes herself to the imminent danger
To gather together, quickly cover, protect all her chicks
with her own body, Her own wings
Don’t humans do this kind of heroic acts every day?
Any mother, parent would put his/her life on the line
To protect his/her own

Even a female monkey once rescued a young tourist who fell in its cage!
The hawk descended, flew over his selected targets
He missed the head of the mother hen until the danger is gone
The hawk only ripped off, plucked her feather
That scattered in the field
Mother hen and her chicks are out of the perils.
It’s time to assess her next moves
O brave chicken souls who’d rather die to protect their own!
From all the uses we make of chickens
Nothing can compare with a warm bowl of chicken soup
In the midst of long Winter nights
In Chicago, New York, Vermont and Wisconsin

Let’s give chickens their dues once for all
That’s if you want to get rid of your cold!
A sick wife, husband and child or anybody else
Afflicted with all kinds of problems need chicken soup
To heal their souls and cure their body
Who can forget this Summer’s chicken B-b-Q
On the beach, at the parks, or in the back or front yard?
Find a cozy spot by the fireplace while the chicken soup simmers
From now on, I will not challenge anybody to a fight
Or crush anybody’s morale
Because a chicken, with all its contributions to mankind,
Is now a hero on my team
Whether we read or eat some chicken soup
It will be great for our soul!
