if we could order... (4/25/04) if we could order most events to follow in our favor if we could make our soon meeting right now instead of never if we are sure it can happen why not make it go that way if we know that our positions are so diff’rint and so far does that challenge tell us really not to shoot beyond a star must we always be so boring not to find a better way like the tip to a great iceberg must our dreams be moved about by a base so much the bigger that they really do not count if we could order most events to follow in our favor we’d be doing so much better than most other folk we meet we could climb the tallest mountain with our heads above the clouds we could hold our hands together and twirl smiling in the mist we could make small sheets of mica into gold and gems up there we would never hem or falter we would reach and then attain all the things we’ve always wanted since they were not things at all but the being with each other in both big times and in small if we could order most events to follow in our favor we would end this separation from this moment on and on so much quicker than an eyeblink that the lashes would not touch and within that tiny time span an eternity would last we would know the depth of sorrow but would never feel the pain we would love with love so helpful as to injure not at all we would hold ourselves so tightly but not touch to save our souls we would reach toward never grasping to an end that is this cold*to Lindsay II
