Family Letters

lThe Following letter was written by Sam Griffith to his granddaughter, Inez. Written on Jun 7th, 1958. He used a 3 cent stamp to mail. Sam wrote this when he was living in Russellville, Arkansas. The spelling is the same as in his letter.

hello Inez. how are you. I hope fine. I will try and anser your letter got some time ago. should have gotten to soon but just haven't. sure would like to see you all but can't. tell all we said hello to all. sure would like to have you down here to help us cook. Mary is having her teeth all pulled and we are having a time. But not too bad. Guess when she gets them all out we will get us a big jug and put a nipple on it and boy won't we have  time. it will be good with butter milk. haha. well sweet hart it sure is dry here and i hear it is there too. how is your garden. fine i hope. I planted everything but a few beens and peas. Well guess you hare having a big time since school is out. Did Etta go see Ruby sat. has archie ever came in. well can't thank of much to write so be a sweet little girl and ________________________________________.

hello dear grand daughter

i got your letter and was so glad to hear from you. i love you all with all my hart and don't forget. you all are on my mind all time and i was so glad that you obayed the gospel and was baptized. it made me happy to know you was doing god's will. i never will forget you was so good to take care of me when i was sick. you and edith both is so good to me and i can't forget it and the boys was so good to do for me too. i love all of you and all ways will. When you see Ruby tell her to rite to me and i am so glad to get a letter from you all. it makes me feel good. Well Sallie is not doing to good at all. she is sick all time and don't have no one to see after her at all. Poor girl is in bad shape. the dr said she mite have cancer. i do hope she don't like poor Pat. i am so sorry for her. i hope she gets well. tell her i love her and the children and to take care of her self. well i guess you can't read this. it is the best i can do. i can't see to rite any more. just got one eye to see with and it don't see good at all.  tell the kids hi for me. may god bless you all. well i went and spent xmas with John and his wife. they both have bin sick but is better. he has a good little woman. she is so good to john and he said she was just like _____. Is a nice house keeper also a good cook. she is so sweet. Well Jim is hear with me and Callie is working in a house to day. she works ever day but saturday. Well i got a letter from Joe. Bettie has not lived with him in a year. he is living at hot springs where he did live. he wants you all to write to him.
