Veronica's Poetry

The Sun

The yellow sun is very bright
It can easily bring delight
Kids go out to play
Loving every ray
But too much can impair your sight

Awake at 2 AM

Awake at 2AM at night
The phone is loudly sounding
For my sleep I try to fight

Under covers and out of sight
I lay quietly hiding
Awake at 2AM at night

Why is dark always so bright?
I hate the sounds of people sleeping
For my sleep I try to fight

Though my efforts seem rather trite
I will keep on trying
Awake at 2AM at night

My eyes close to dim the light
And still it is never ending
For my sleep I try to fight

No one cares about my plight
There is no use complaining
Awake at 2AM at night
For my sleep I try to fight

Headline poem

On thin Ice
Something's waiting inside the Saint
the new unfinished terror
high and low shattered dreams
limits and the truth
the new politics of race
separate but equal
you know why they're so angry
but you're not a miracle worker
they're too late wise
