Lana Oakley

Intro Bio

Lana Oakley is short and slender with long, dark hair and beautiful grey eyes with little hints of blue in them. She is quiet and quite shy, but when you've learned to know her you can discover she's intelligent, curious, romantic and has an easy sort of humour. To those who earn it she's a wonderful, trustworthy friend. On the downside Lana's pretty naive, stubborn and lack self-confidence.

Lana was born in Forest tarn, a small village situated in Northeast mountains of the Khalakopf Range - not far from Five Lakes. She had a happy upbringing, she is still very close to her brother, and got a chance to study for Annie Greenwich, the healer of the village. When Lana was about 10 years old Annie showed her a wild unicorn mare and her foal, this made such a strong impression that Lana from that time onward was determined to seek for the academy. (Of course, she'd heard tales of the Uen Roug before that, but although it sounded nice she'd never really considered the possibility of becoming one herself.) Now she did, and her parents weren't all that fond of the idea. They were quite sure they couldn't stop her either, but in the middle of all this, Annie was killed in a terrible accident. Lana, who'd been visiting her brother Jonatar, was devastated. She mourned so deeply her family decided a change of air would be good for her and sent her to relatives in Aedelfar. The colourful port town with its friendly people was the perfect place for a young and curious girl. Her aunt and uncle where kind to her and finally - Lana started to smile again. She spent about one and a half year in Aedelfar before the news came. The Uen Roug Academy was seeking new students. Lana's parents accepted her decision and to her great joy, she was soon on her way to Pallahade.

At the academy, Lana has made excellent results in classes like history and diplomacy, perhaps a little less terrific in combat, dancing and acting. Lana can play the lute - a bit, and her woodcarvings are acceptable, but not very good. She guess she yet has to find her specific talents, if she has one. As so many other students, Lana hopes to bond one day, but she does not dare to believe much in that possibility. Her recent bonding to Shadow exeeded all her expectations. They are in the Hurricane Class of 111 Adt.

Shadow
(Artwork and description by player Regina Carey)

Shadow

Thinner, quieter, and less robust than his older twin, Shadow has always felt that he's grown up in his brother Player's, well...shadow.  More soft-spoken and even-tempered than his brother, Shadow doesn't really feel very adamant about much of anything...and if he did, he would be more likely to keep it locked inside.  Not that he doesn't like a good discussion, but for Shadow arguments are things to be mulled over and carefully weighed before reaching any conclusive decisions.  And sometimes, in his mind, there are no conclusive decisions.  Shadow's a dreamer and a thinker and lives more in his own head than in the world itself.  He has seen the evil that's out there and he wants no part of it, though one could never say he was completely apathetic. Perhaps, in fact, the problem is that he cares too much.  Unlike Player, who sees the world as his oyster, to Shadow it's simply unfair, and it's something years ago he realized he couldn't change, much to his own despair.  He's easy going, though, and probably would have lots of friends if he took the time to go out and meet them.  He's content to share his thoughts with his twin, though, and let the rest of the world wheel slowly by.

Shadow also has a keen sense of humor and a sharp, sarcastic wit, rarely shared with anyone but his brother.  Unlike his twin, he's never been much with the mares, though he's had an enormous crush on the outspoken, actress-corn Parade for years.  His talent is the ability to animate shadows to do his bidding for short periods of time. An excellent, if somewhat uninterested fighter.

Stats: 15.3h, Male, black, 2 years old, born @ Academy, First listed 4/14/01.
