PUMPKINS

Just this morning
you came running
into my room
crying.

I put the pillow
over my ears
and turned my back.

October 30th
The stand down the road
is holding a pumpkin
at your request.

But I have no Money.

"You're my pumkin."
I had said yesterday
at the breakfast table.

Your eyes changed
and you knew
there would be nothing
On which
to carve a face.
