Nobody hears my cry,
while my destiny is at stake,
why so late to save my precious life?
As tragic as it is,
Katrina took everything,
but my hope and my dreams
are still alive!
New Orleans, New Orleans the blues cry,
come save us, come save us,
we are running out of time!
Let's treat one another with respect and dignity,
after all, we share the same color of blood,
Stop calling me colored! When we're all human alike!
Beautiful lives have been shattered
in this wonderful city of blues and jazz,
don't forget to say aloud our spirits will never die.
Come rescue us, come rescue us,
we have no more time!
The blues, the blues today they cry.
Let's work together to rebuild the
affected areas, and give strength
to broken lives.
