FAMILY, COUNTRY, AND TRAGEDY
Most of us know exactly where we were,
The day that the world changed forever.
Tuesday, September 11th, as terrorists attacked,
And we tried to keep our families together.
As I watched the Today Show,
I saw the second plane
As it hit The World Trade Center,
Then I realized our country would never be the same.
I awoke my daughter,
Home sick that day,
Talked to my son on the phone,
And longed for two daughters who seemed far away.
Talked to my parents,
Sister and brother,
Only wishing and hoping
That we were together.
As I watched the news,
And heard of the losses,
I knew that it was time
For my family to count our blessings.

PATRIOTISM, POST 9/11
On September 11th, so many children,
Lost their fathers or mothers,
Couples lost spouses,
Parents lost sons and daughters.
All too quickly
Innocent lives were taken,
And America soon began
To awaken.
Lady Liberty standing,
So proud and true,
The Eagles flying,
Shedding a tear or two.
Our troops always ready,
By land, sea, or air,
To protect our country,
Their pride we all share.
The red, white, and blue,
Flying oh so high,
Hearing The Star Spangled Banner,
Still brings a tear to my eye.
So always remember,
The country we love,
And give thanks for your freedom,
To God up above.
