Mommy Likes the Monsters

I believe she does.
The other day I saw her in my room
Reaching her arm under my bed…
I think she was feeding them.
She must have been
Because she always shouts at me
“Stop jumping on the bed!
Somebody could get hurt!”
(Especially the monsters.)
“Clean up that room. Somebody might trip.”
Somebody like the monsters?
I like to stuff things under the bed
And force the monsters out,
But Mom doesn’t like it and yells
“Those things don’t belong there!”
Neither do the monsters.
“Mom, why can’t I sleep with the light on?”
“Cause. Just turn it off and go to sleep.”
But I don’t.
And neither do the monsters.
She says they’ll go away
When I fall asleep,
But why won’t she just kill them?
Daddy always kills them for me
When he’s home,
But Mommy just brings more the next day.
I think she likes them.
I wonder if she's one of them
If she is, my life is over...
I can't live without my mother,
But I can't live with the monsters!
