    Naota is a small grade-school student, living in the town of Mabase, Japan. He lives in a house/shop with his father and grandfather. He has a brother with whom he has a strange relationship, a kind of obsessive admiration. His brother was a great baseball player, but he left to play for the majors in America. As a result of this, Naota always carries around a baseball bat which he only uses to hit broken vending machines and other mechanical annoyances. He also gets agitated when people talk about his brother and does not like anyone touching his brother's stuff or his bed.

He goes to school and has three friends, one who is an average boy, one who is a overreacting kid who has a large fixation on perversion, and Eri, who shows signs of having interest in Naota, partially attracted to him for the fact that he tries to keep to himself. He has a habit of running into Mamimi, his brother's old girlfriend who is several years older then him and goes to high school, though she skips class nearly everyday. She had a thing for Naota's brother but takes out her loneliness and sexual frustrations on Naota, who always protests but always comes back to see Mamimi every day after school, which poses the question if he likes Mamimi or not.

The story kicks off when Naota is suddenly run down by a very strange woman on her Vespa motor bike. She revives him with CPR only to slam him on the forehead with her Rickenbacker bass guitar. He manages to get away, only to find that he has a abnormally large growth on his forehead, and soon after finds himself stalked by the very strange Haruko who keeps trying to check his forehead. He goes home only to find this woman is now his family's new live in house keeper, a payment since Haruko also ran over his perverted father with her Vespa. What ensues is that Kanchi, a large robot, comes out of his head and ends up becoming a second live in housekeeper.

Naota appears to dislike things being out of the ordinary, stating that the town is 'Normal, nothing ever happens here,' and gets rather agitated when things get out of their usual routine. He is very much a shut in, always keeping to himself and always disliking any undue attention focused on him. His major pet peeve appears to be that he hates it when adults don't act their age, he himself always being complimented on how mature he is for his age. He hardly ever is happy and usually has a very negative air about him. As the story progresses, and Haruko stays longer at his house, she appears to have an influence on him which causes him to start acting unlike himself, such as being more outgoing and receptive to attention paid to him.

    Haruko is a renegade space patrol officer who has arrived on Earth to resurrect the space being, Atomsk. When she arrives on Earth, she makes her first appearance by running down Naota with her Vespa scooter and hitting him in the head with her Ricken-Backer bass guitar. She then serves as the Nandaba family's housekeeper, annoying Naota even more.

Haruko's guitar doubles as both a weapon and flight device as she can use her guitar like a gun and fly with it. Her guitar is a Rickenbacker 4003 . She leaves it behind at the end of the series, and Naota picks it up and keeps it. Haruko pulled the Flying V from Naota's head in Episode 4, while the EB-0 came out of the red Canti's screen in Episode 5.

    Mamimi is a high school student who is apparently poor and is mostly seen at the Mabase bridge. When she was 12, Mamimi met Naota's brother, Tasuku, after a fire was set to the town's elementary school. When Tasuku went to America, she constantly fondles Naota on occasion using the kid as a way to ease her depression without Tasuku's presence and addresses him as 'Takun.' She becomes amazed with Naota's changes as he's hanging around with Haruko. Mamimi is interested in video games, photography, and the occult.

Species: Android

    Kanchi is a tall blue robot, lanky in build with a TV for a head. He works for Naota and his family doing menial tasks like baking bread for their family bakery, washing cloths and the like.

He originally came out of Naota's head after Haruko whacked him across the skull with her Rickenbacker bass guitar. When he first came out, he was red, and fighting with a robotic hand that was actually bigger then him in total size. He won the fight but quickly after he was smashed across the back of the skull by Haruko's guitar, smashing the back of his TV head, breaking the TV case and causing his red color to turn blue.

When he is blue, he does what he is told and does not do much else. In his spare time when he is not doing chores, he looks around for the pieces of the back of his head that scattered when Haruko hit him, trying to fix himself. He does not respond to being hit or yelled at so he is rather easy going. He cannot talk, so he expresses himself using pictures displayed on the TV screen he has for a face.

When bad things come out of Naota's head, like nasty robots, he cannot defend himself and usually tries to run. When he does get a chance, he actually 'Eats' Naota, using him like a missing part. In doing this, he turns red and finally is able to fight, and able to turn into a mega-cannon which fires a glowing ball that can change direction and return to his barrel. Eventually he 'passes' Naota through his system and returns to his normal blue self.

    Kamon is a very crazy pervert. For one thing, he is obsessed over Haruhara Haruko. It all started the same way as Naota: when he got run over by her Vespa. He hired her as a housekeeper so she wouldn't go to the cops. Naota, of course, objected, but Kamon didn't care. Things just got crazier from there. He even fought Naota in a 'toy gun fight' for the affections of Haruko.

Beginning in episode 3, Kamon goes back into journalism, publishing an investigative mini-zine he calls "Come On Mabase" . It's the mini-zine that exposes the rumors about the mayor of Mabase and his secretary.

One last thing. He is obsessed with Fooly Cooly. He doesn't shut up about it, wondering what it is. He usually connects it with something naughty.

    Shigekuni is the Naota's grandfather, the coach of the Martians, and like many others of the Nandaba family, in love with Haruko. He's not a pervert like Kamon, but he does tend to fantasize of Haruko.

    Mayuka is the snotty demon that follows Haruko around. She is a wanderer. No origin, no destination, no sense, no worries. Mayuka wanders just to do so. But soon, she meets Haruko, Minako, and Naota and Mayuka gets the excitement in her wandering she so desperately wanted!

    Minako is the little girl who follows everyone around. No one seems to know anything about her. Not even Minako herself! However, she does possess a great power. One greater than Canti-sama's. What is it? Mayuka is the only one who knows. Minako got her power from dying priestess by accident. But what is it? It won't be told, yet....
