Wise Man
More weird things keep happening. The girls were bored again. Time to make
something happen.
The girls hit the streets again. Nothing special Mayuka happened to look up.
“Hm?” she asked.
“What?” Haruko asked. The girls looked up. He stood out the moment they saw him.
Despite it being summer, he or they wore a thick black hood and cloak. Haruko
tilted her head.
“Who is that?” she asked. The ladies found themselves getting closer. This
figure didn’t move. It looked like they were about to cross the street. Mayuka
picked up her pace. She even reached out her hand.
Suddenly, the figure turned its head. The girls froze. The figure held up a
skinny boney hand.
“Hello?” Haruko asked. The figure didn’t speak. Mayuka tilted her head.
“Who is that?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” the alien said. “You go talk to him.” Mayuka whipped her head
around.
“What?! Why me?!” she asked. Haruko shrugged. The demon puffed up her cheeks and
frowned. Minako backed up behind Haruko. Mayuka rolled her eyes.
“Fine,” she muttered. Mayuka turned and walked up to the cloaked figure. They
lowered their hand.
“Hey buddy,” Mayuka said. The figure didn’t speak.
“Hello?” the demon asked. No answer. Mayuka frowned. Okay, what was this?
“Okay, what’s the deal?” she asked. “Can’t you talk?” The figure didn’t talk.
Instead, they touched her on the forehead with a boney finger. Mayuka’s body
went stiff. Her eyes grew wide. Her jaw dropped. A silent scream escaped from
her mouth.
“Mayuka?” Haruko asked. Minako followed behind as the alien rode up to the
people in the street. Mayuka fell to her knees.
“Mai-Mai!” Minako shouted. The hooded figure looked up. The hood dropped away.
Was it possible for eyes to be that red? That popped against the wrinkled white
face.
“Uh…” Haruko said. The wrinkled-up figure held up their right hand. Haruko and
Minako froze. The alien fell off her Vespa. Her eyes looked so empty. However,
it was Minako who snapped out of it in time to see that wrinkled white hand grab
her by the wrist. She didn’t get a chance to scream.
Within a flash, she and the figure vanished into thin air. Haruko and Mayuka
were left stunned on the ground.
