There are many different ways of thinking about the New Zealand Heritage Koru Flag. One way is from a Biblical Christian perspective.
From this perspective you may like to consider the following Bible verses in relation to the the proposed flag design.
Psalm 135:7
"He it is who makes the clouds rise at the ends of the Earth ..."
Psalm 22: 27
All the ends of the Earth will remember and turn to the Lord
And all the families of the nations will bow before Him.
Psalm 23:1-2 (From someone who thought it looked like a shepherd's crook)
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside the still waters
Psalm 60:4
You have given a banner to those who fear you
That it may be displayed on account of the truth *
* Some translations render that last line "on account of the bow". This translation appears confusing, but "bow" in Genesis is symbolic of a covenant. So either way the verse points out the rightness of having a flag that (in part) reminds of the founding covenant document of this nation, the Treaty of Waitangi.
