Loved ones come together,
gather they close
To bid last farewells to a beautiful rose
Showered by delicate rosebuds, the softest pink spray
I envision a garden in Heaven where roses cascade
I know in my heart the Father must sometimes choose
A rose for his garden so he picks a bloom
Sometimes a white bud, in innocence a child he must take
Often a yellow rose at twilight, many petals have drifted away
But when a mother is placed in God's tender care
Full in bloom is the rose and the color is red
Petals of scarlet for all the love she has shared
Tipped with the dew for every tear she has shed
Each delicately scented generous as velvet to touch
Enfold about her heart keeping cherished the love
That the gentle breeze of our memories will carry on
And fill with her fragrance the emptiness that remains
Graceful in splendor perfect reflection of love
Gentle in kindness and spirit yet bold of heart
Charm so captivating we want desperately to hold
To keep forever in our presence this beautiful rose
kind and loving the memories, in tears we depart
For her voice of understanding and laughter we long
But beauty this fragile has found a special place
To blossom in a garden where roses cascade
God's tender mercies now with her are shared
Every desire of her heart fulfilled in his care
Yet thorns pierce our flesh, and we linger to hold
Then place in God's hand the gift of a rose
God tells us to believe all sorrow shall turn to joy
And I will see you again and our hearts shall rejoice
And what we ask in the son's shall be given
So I'll ask of the Father when my life here is through
May my first vision in heaven be
The sight of you holding this beautiful rose
I must now give to thee
