Where would you be as he prayed
Alone in Gethesmane
Would you have slept when he asked,
"Wont someone pray with me?"
Where would you be when he was betrayed?
Would you by his side have stayed?
Or would you like Peter
In terror have strayed?
What would you have done about
The thorns he bore with grace?
Would you have looked with pity
On that calm and peaceful face?
Could you have stood the agony
To see him bear his load?
To see him fall beneath the cross
On that long and rocky road?
What, my friend, would you have said
When spikes pierced hands and feet?
Would you have mocked as he suffered there
And his heart in anguish beat?
What would you think if on you he glanced
As gathered on him the death dew?
How would you act when he said, "Forgive
They dont know what they do."
