A POEM FOR MOTHER
I wrote this poem for my mother on her 79th birthday. In it I wrote a little something that I felt each of my siblings felt deep in their heart and needed to express. This poem is very personal to me and my brothers and sisters. I have to say it brought tears to my mother's eyes , but also it brought her closer to us.
Mother, its funny how we say I love you
Yet find it hard to show it.
This poem is our way of telling you
How much we love and care for you.
(Mary)
When I learned all the sorrowful things you had gone through
As a woman in love, a mother, and a wife
I learned to quit whining about my small stuff
You gave me the inspiration to go on fighting
And never give up.
You never gave up on us,
How can I give up on you?
Thank you mother
For such a great gift.
(ROSIE)
Mother, I thank you for seeing in me
That beautiful rose only you could see
You always knew what to say
To make me feel loved.
You never failed me when I needed you
You were always there to pick me up
Whenever I was down
You always seemed so proud of me
No matter what others said.
I love you mother,
Unknowingly, you kept my soul alive.
(JOE)
Mother, I never knew what it was
Not to have a father
But you took his place without protest
You taught me to love my children
No matter what the circumstance
IN your own way, you were both parents t o me,
Something Ill cherish for the rest of my life
Thank you mother, thank you for
Stepping in and taking that role
I will always love you for it.
(CATALINA)
Mother, I want to thank you for trusting in me
When you felt frightened and alone
I was the one you called for,
I dont know if it was just circumstance
But in your need for me,
You taught me that its ok to feel vulnerable sometimes
And lean on someone shoulder.
To gather strength from loved ones
Whenever we feel lonely.
I love you for your teachings mother
My shoulder is always here for you.
(CAROLINA)
Mother, how can I forget the sacrifices you made
When I needed you the most
Laying in that hospital so young was frightening
But you never left my side.
You gave me strength to go on living
You showed me how much I was loved
And that without me, things just
Wouldnt be the same.
Thank you mother, without you
I wouldnt be here today.
Happy 79th Birthday!

My mother, My friend........The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you
and is willing to trust you
with a friendship
----- Ralph Waldo Emerson
