The Plight of the Sun God
Once the Sun God's light shone bright
When he was come of age.
But life was hard and dimmed his light
And filled him with great rage.

He lived within his inner mind
And rarely did appear.
So scarcely did I know him then
Yet he was always near.

He fought within his inner self
A battle bravely fought,
A foe that brought him to the brink
Of death of self, I truly thought.

One day the greatest battle summoned him
Though he felt ill prepared,
His war club broken with misuse
His shield in disrepair.

This battle came to all that day
Our Maya Princess fair
Was struck down in our very midst
And filled us with despair.

We struggled hard to lay defense
To keep our precious stone
But we could not catch hold of truth
And she was left alone.

The Sun God reached within himself
Rekindling his light
The Wolf he marveled to himself,
"He's helped to light our night".

He battled now for Princess fair
The sweetest love we'd e'er know.
He stood in absence of ourselves
With troubles, griefs, and woe.

He felt he failed as she passed on
But Lord God we all knew
Of all he'd done on our behalf
T'was nothing more to do.

The Sun God stood with strong head bowed
We'd lost our greatest good
Though viewed from sad, but grateful hearts
How proud the Sun God stood.
