Solitude

One broken jewelry box
Ballerina that could dance,
Twinkling melody, I could not decipher,

Laughing faces, midnight traces
Of teardrops on my face,
Just another taunting from those
who could not understand

Baseball diamonds,
Homerun hits
Coach is nervous,
When I hit,
Taking chances
Like I have always done,

Guitar strings and Nashville Dreams
Played heavy on my mind,
Sweet 16, oh how the candles light my memories

Wedding rings, and divorce papers,
One in blue, and one in yellow
Gosh, I wondered where my courage came from....

New beginnings and shattered endings,
Color the decades of life's passing.
New world dawning, and life's worth living,
I think I missed a beat.

New beginning and shattered endings,
Like a movie reel that is playing in my mind,
Close my eyes to dream again,
The dreams I dared to dream.
