CRISPIN’S
WORDS TO PARIS AND ABBEY
I’ve been honored to know Paris since I was a young
pup. I used to read his words of wisdom in Hound and Hearth and one
day I was courageous enough to write him. Imagine my delight when he
replied to me – me, just a stripling of a hound! We quickly forged
a bond of friendship from that time on and, although we have never met in
the fur, I feel I know him well. Paris gave me lots of sage advice
in my formative years, and he was the one who accepted the responsibility
of informing others of my brother Charlie’s untimely passing to the Rainbow
Bridge when I was too heavy in heart and paw to do it myself. That
is true friendship.
I was humbled to be granted the position of Best Dog. In
that capacity I would like to offer my heartiest wishes for a long and
happy life together for Paris and Abbey. Although we all thought that
Paris was a confirmed bachelor, he surprised all of us by his Valentine’s
Day declaration of undying devotion, thus giving new meaning to the term
“sly old dog”. Honestly, though, I think that our resident cover girl,
she of the beautiful deerhound eyes, couldn’t ask for a better mate.
Paris is loyal, honest, trustworthy, and strong. And Paris will be
getting a mate who loves to dance and twirl her way through life.
Abbey will add a touch of spice to Paris’ life, and I think this is a good
thing.
Let us all now drink a toast to the happy couple. Long may they
reign! Paris and Abbey, we offer you cha do lorgadh clar (long life
and happiness).
