THE STAG PARTY

Well, the party started right on time. I was a little surprised because the youngsters were really tired from stag chasing. At least, that's what they told me they were doing. I asked them to describe what they had chased and all  I got was a lot of "err...it was really big...had huge antlers...was really fast. We had to go deep into the forest...." I didn't think too much about it until I talked to Saysha. She told me several of the girls arrived at the doe party a trifle tired and a couple of them had twigs in their coats. We looked at each other as the light bulbs went off over our heads. Talorgen was looking a trifle smug. I did not get a chance to observe Grace.

The party was a blast. Those laddies can really knock back the ale. We all ate and drank like there was no tomorrow. A huge fire roared in the fireplace. Being six myself, I sat with my Honorary Uncle Pendragon and St. Crispin until the cakes came. Oh, that Eclipse did a marvellous job! The cakes were huge--at least four tiers. One had the Laird Pendragon's coat of arms and a spun sugar replica of him in his tartan on top. The other said, Happy Birthday to the Saint and had a replica of him on top. As we gathered close to look at them, the fanfare began, the tops of the cakes burst open and Ali sashayed out of one and Mackie out of the other, front paws encased in elbow-length white gloves, hips gyrating to the music as they called out greetings to the honorees. At that moment several other Deerie and Rooshin girls entered he room wearing nothing but tams. The boys went wild. Paris was astonished. Crispin could not even utter a bark. Then the dance music began and the lads and lassies just couldn't get themselves off the dance floor. Next time Nate wants sympathy for his bad paw, laugh in his face. Paris and Crispin left shortly after the cake caper but the festivities went on and on. I will not name names. If those involved wish to divulge the rest, I will leave it to them. I finally shut down the party, with admonitions for all to show up well-rested and properly attired for the magical festivities of the evening. Eclipse had even arranged for a crew to come clean up the evidence...er, the room.   I hope the honorees enjoyed their party. It seems the guests did.

Mickey, who's really looking forward to the nuptials..
