A Million Lives

I wish I could be a million people
and live a million lives.
I wish I could be you, and you, and you.
I met a man once at a poetry convention.
He was a mountain man.
His house was actually built into a rock
upon a mountain-top.
He and his wife are singers
and he plays a guitar.
Wow! How lucky they are.
He was the nicest guy I ever met.
That's probably because he's in
God's country where he can see
the stars closer to the sky,
and view the tress and the flowing brooks.
He's where he can breathe.
It always amazes me how other people live.
Oh, me, I live in a kinda big city.
Just Ole' New Orleans where
everybody else wants to live.
People come from all the world
to visit this quaint old city,
famous for Bourbon Street and partying.
Oh. don't get me wrong
I love it too,
but just wish I had a mountain view.
Yep, the Ole' Mississippi River surrounds us.
Golly, the water is so dirty
not like Jamaica at all.
Now we can't go swimming anymore
as I did as a kid because
of pollution here, they took it all away.
They won't even let us into the old Lovers Lane.
Those were the days my friend,
I thought they'd never end.
I heard from a friend today,
from Great Britain,
who went on a vacation.
I wonder what he saw?
Well, I wish I were a million people
to be in all the places of God's creation.
I want to see the world.
If I had a million dollars
I could never see it all
I wish to see it all:
The Eiffel Tower and to visit China.
I want to go to Singapore
and eat the Chinese food.
I want to go to Italy and fall in love.
I want to go to New York City
and skate upon the ice.
I want to visit Ireland
to visit my Great Grandma.
Golly, I hope I come back again
a million times and live a million lives.
I wonder if I could choose my own
home-town next time around?
