All Too Soon

The leaves have turned from green to many
colors, autumn comes so soon.
The time for change has come again,
as morning inevitably changes to noon.

Time has a habit of going on past
the pleasures and dreams we keep.
Things of this earth do not last,
they can pass us as we sleep.

Just as the colored leaves fall to the ground
and that color is covered with white,
We must learn to change as we grow and
let Him cover us with His light.

Autumn for me has always been sad.
The summer fun has flown by.
No more swimming, baseball or golf.
There are more clouds in the sky.

This time of year is beautiful, but
afterward comes cold and ice.
Just as some things of this world
look great but aren't really so nice.

We must learn what is and is not good.
Our choice makes the difference,
In what happens after we leave this earth.
We are all given our preference.

Now is the time to decide what we want.
To accept His gift or not.
Time is slipping by way too fast.
It's time to get off the pot.

Remember, the winter of life slips up fast.
We can turn around and then...
Life's autumn beauty comes unsurpassed,
But brings on the snow again.

When winter comes, we better be sure
we don't think that we're immune.
Judgment is here, it's too late for a cure.
Life has slipped by all too soon.
