Too many years I lived in the dark.
Thought that I was doing great.
Then someone came along and caused a spark,
That lit this heart afire and set me straight.
When walking in the darkness,
I believed that I was 'toppin cotton'.
However, that "fun" I thought I was having,
Soon became something cold and rotten.
It did not take long for me to realize
That "fun" did not last, was very hollow.
This path did not lead to an end to idealize.
I could see the falseness in what I followed.
The dark that I did live in was scary, at best.
There were many different ways to go and things to do.
Many of the people I met were sad, seemed depressed.
They were searching for something else, (looking for You).
You, precious Jesus, came along with Your light.
Told me I was truly loved and showed me the way.
You, precious Jesus, gave me my sight,
Then turned me around and changed my night to day.
Your light has shown brightly and guided me through,
Several storms that has already come into my path.
When I study Your Word, I find it so true.
You, precious Jesus, have accepted God's wrath.
You took the punishment that should have been mine.
Told me to go, repent and do what is right.
Yes, I did the sin and You did the time.
I love You, Jesus, for showing me daylight.
